Training videos for LIERAC

The Science Office recently produced a series of six videos for the cosmetics brand LIERAC. The videos will be used in training of pharmacists for the launch of the brand’s new line, LIERAC PRESCRIPTION.

The Chemistry of Things on Sic K

The Chemistry of Things returns to television screens today on the Sic Kids channel.SIC Kids is a thematic channel for SIC, whose main objective is the dissemination of quality and distinctive programming for a target audience of children and adolescents.

The Chemistry of Things episodes will be broadcast from Monday to Friday at 11:30, 15:30 and 17:00.

The Chemistry of Things shortlisted for EuroPAWS 2013

The Chemistry of Things, produced by the Science Office for the University of Aveiro, has been shortlisted for the 2013 European Science TV and New Media Festival and Awards (EuroPAWS) in two categories: New Media Productions and Women in Science.EuroPAWS is a project started in 2001 to highlight the potential for science and technology across television and new media output in Europe.

The festival will be held at the Science Gallery, Dublin, in front of a public audience between the 14th and 16th June. A jury from various fields will refine a shortlist for the awards (which will occur in Lisbon in November), along with deciding the winners of each category.

The 2013 European Science TV and New Media Festival and Awards is supported by BASF, Janssen, the La Caixa Foundation, NEF, The Innovation Institute and Science Foundation Ireland.

The Chemistry of Things was produced in the framework of the International Year of Chemistry 2011 and funded by COMPETE – Competitive Factors Operational Programme and by Ciência Viva, Media Science Programme.

The Chemistry of Things in Casa das Ciências

Our project The Chemistry of Things is now part of the educational resources of the Casa das Ciências (House of Sciences), Gulbenkian’s teachers portal.The Chemistry of Things, produced by the Science Office for the University of Aveiro, has now joined the list of educational resources available at the Casa das Ciencias, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s portal for teachers.

This portal collects, evaluates, certifies and offers materials to serve science teachers in primary and secondary education.

Science by Kids already took off

New Year, new projects! The Science Office begins 2013 with a new communication science project for the general public, this time in collaboration with the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, Portugal. We already started the production of 26 episodes for television, which will deal with various science topics, duly explained by our young presenters.

Science by Kids will be available at the end of the year, but you can already see what it will look like!

The Chemistry of Things was selected to be published in the monthly newsletter of COMPETE and is featured on their website.

The Chemistry of Things is one of 29 projects funded by the Media Ciência Programme, an initiative of COMPETE – Operational Programme Competitiveness Factors and Ciência Viva, launched in 2010 to support the production of scientific and technological content for publication in the media.

The Chemistry of Things is already on a screen near you!

The new big project from The Science Office, The Chemistry of Things, is out.The first season of 13 episodes presented by Cláudia Semedo, are being broadcasted by RTP2 (Portuguese National Television). The official website is also ready and both the radio stations RDP Internacional and Africa are broadcasting the radio version of the show.

Full house to hear and see Moonrise

The Suggia Room, at Casa da Música in Porto, was full for Moonrise, last 17th of March.This concert, wich presents imagens and videos from astronomer José Francisco Salgado, was a co-production from The Science Office, the Portuguese Astronomical Society and Casa da Música, that allowed the show to be brought to Portugal.
